Rev. Timothy Gwin

Associate Pastor

Tim is a covenant child and a Peachtree City native. He is married to the most wonderful woman in the world, Rosie. They have been married for 12 years. They lived in Colorado the first 2 years of marriage, where Rosie taught at Ponderosa High in Parker. Tim was employed by Natural Balance, Inc., as a Territory Manager. That is when he began attending seminary at New Geneva Theological Seminary in Colorado Springs. During that time, Tim helped lead the youth ministry at Redeemer PCA in Parker, Colorado, which Carriage Lane helped plant. After two years, the Gwins were transferred back to Atlanta. Tim transferred to Reformed Theological Seminary Atlanta campus where he completed a Master Of Theological Studies in 2004.  He then transferred to Reformed Theological Seminary Orlando campus and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2006.  On May 20, 2011 Tim graduated again from Reformed Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology.  His emphasis has been in Reformation Theology with a concentrated study of John Calvin’s Theology of the Christian Life.  Tim’s dissertation is entitled “Head and Heart Aflame: The Pilgrim Piety of John Calvin.”  It will be published in 2012.  Tim is completing a Doctorate of Ministry from Erskine Theological Seminary through their Institute For Reformed Worship.

Tim’s ministry is focused on communicating the glory of Jesus Christ in the only Gospel of salvation through the preaching and teaching of God’s inspired and infallible Word.  In addition to preaching on Sunday morning when Doug is away, Tim preaches the Sunday evening service and regularly teaches Sunday School.  For eight years, Tim taught and led the college ministry at Carriage Lane, which continues to flourish.  For the past several years he has focused on developing the spiritual growth of the church through the men’s ministry, the Wednesday evening prayer meeting, the weekly family worship guide, and gospel outreach through the Good News Club at Huddleston Elementary.

Tim was ordained Ruling Elder in 2003 and Teaching Elder on May sixth, 2007. During his time as a Ruling Elder and now Teaching Elder, Tim's love for Christ and His church has grown tremendously. He has enjoyed the great privilege and responsibility of laboring with other Elders to lead the church by God's Word, Sacraments, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. Tim came to faith in Jesus Christ under the preaching of God’s Word in 1994.  He has been fed, taught, encouraged and discipled under the ministries of this church, and the LORD, in turn, has taken him from being harvested to a harvester. Immediately Tim had a burning desire to preach and teach the Word of God and proclaim the Gospel, and that has only grown stronger everyday. His passion is to see Christ made known here and to the ends of the earth.

Tim has worked with every age group here at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church, from Preschool Praise to VBS to Jr. & Sr. High, college & young adults, men and seniors. Tim's desire is to labor here to see this church grow, not just numerically but, more important, spiritually. By God's grace the members of Carriage Lane have built a beautiful sanctuary, but the real beauty lies in the transformation of the people of God by the grace of God from one degree of glory to another in their union with the LORD Jesus Christ.
